Flyer Distribution

In order to maximize returns on your flyers you ordered through Moda, it is important that once you receive them you don’t just sit them in your salon... after all, people in your salon already know about you so that defeats the whole purpose, doesn’t it?
1000 or 5000 flyers can seem like a very high amount of flyers to distribute, but with a little creativity you’ll find they go a lot quicker then one would think.

Here are some marketing ideas to help you with your flyer distribution:

1) Hire someone to hand your flyers out: If your hair salon, nail salon or spa is located in a mall or a busy shopping center, hiring someone to hand flyers out during busy hours is a great way to attract new cutomers to your shop. Teenagers can be a great help at distributing flyers, with very little cost to you. But keep it earth friendly and make sure they are given out hand to hand so they may not end up littered on the floor.

2) Network with neighboring businesses: This is a very important part of our salon marketing. Approach surrounding businesses that have regular traffic such as coffee shops, restaurants, or any store for that matter, and ask permission to leave some flyers for your beauty salon in their establishment while offering to have a place in your hair salon, nail salon or spa for theirs. A flyer or card holder rack can be purchased for a minimal investment that would allow for any flyers to be neatly displayed and take up minimum space in a corner of your beauty salon's waiting room.

3) Approach bridal shops and flower shop: Create partnerships with bridal shops and flower shops. Leave some discount flyers or business cards in their shops and ask for a referral to their clients and offer to do the same for them.

4) Have your flyers inserted in neighborhood newsletters: For an advertising fee some neighborhoods will insert your salon flyer in their monthly newsletter. This sends a great message to the residents, and lets them know your hair salon, nail salon or spa is the neighborhoods’ beauty salon of choice!

5) Have your flyer inserted in the local newspaper: You can have your flyers by Moda inserted in a newspaper. It doesn’t even have to be a major newspaper, even a smaller publication will reach people’s homes and have a direct impact on potential beauty salon clients!

Salon Marketing Ideas

1) Build a rewarding referral system for your clients: Word of mouth is ultimately the best form of advertising. It's important that you make your current salon clients work for you by creating a referral system that has enough incentive to actually make your clients tell their friends and family about your salon. The Moda referral business cards are very simple business card size flyers that offer a discount and have a space for you to fill in you or your stylists’ name with a special invitation text line. There is a line for your client to write in their name under “Referred by”. Have rewards for whoever refers 4 or 6 clients such as a free service, a free product, or even a dinner for two for someone who refers 10 clients.

2) Marketing through Gift Certificates: Order the Moda plastic card beauty salon gift certificates and display them prominently by your cash register for everyone to see.

3) Organize a monthly salon happy hour party: A party with wine, cheeses, maybe a DJ can create a fun atmosphere for your employees and your clients that can create loyalty. Maybe offer some discounts on all products for the hours during which the party takes place, so as to attract clients not scheduled for services.

4) Organize a happy hour event sponsored by your salon at a local nightclub or bar/restaurant: This is something that is much easier to accomplish then it sounds. Approach a local service establishment such as a neighboring bar, and propose to have a party for your salon at their location. Ask for an open bar for at least an hour for salon patrons (and free admission with flyer). So bartenders can recognize members of your party ask them to have a special stamp or a bracelet for anyone that shows a flyer at the door. At Moda, we have Beauty Salon clients that do events such as this in a very small scale at a neighboring bar, and also clients that bring a rather large crowd to swanky nightclubs and lounges during normal operational hours at night. This is a win win situation for both the salon or spa and the establishment hosting the event, as after the initial hour of open bar is over, they will find themselves with a crowd that would otherwise not be there ready to spend money. Also your salon gains major cool points with your clients, and gives everybody a chance to get to know each other better, and this also creates loyalty.

5) Pre-emptive Marketing. The time to advertise is NOW!! A very common mistake many hair salon, nail salon or spa owners make is to wait until business slows down before taking action. Of course, nothing is worse than repairing rather than preparing in these situations, so be sure to always run promotions and make a big deal out of introducing new services or features to your beauty salon… Maybe you are doing some remodeling in your hair salon or nail spa, then why not have a Salon Grand Opening party once construction is finished to show off the labors of your hard work!

6) Offer combo packs: Hair Cut, Face Packs, Manicure, etc.

7) Offer holiday packages: Hair Cut, Face Packs, Manicure, etc. on special holidays.

8) Offer "Friends and Family Day": You can have a "Friends and Family Day", or you can have a second treatment for half price for a new client that comes in with a regular client.
